Why participate?

The Summer School, which received the support of several partners involved in the field of asylum and integration, will form a deep analysis of some fundamental issues associated with the current forced migration phenomenon paying specific attention to the importance of a methodological approach directed towards praxis.

Geopolitics of forced migration, European policies of externalization of borders, Search and Rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea, Balkan migration route, skilled migration, therapeutic assistance to refugees and asylum seekers, journalistic ethics applied to communication on forced migration are just some of the main topics we will discuss and share. Field visits to reception centres will complete the theoretical content, offering focused training on how reception and integration work in the field.

Objectives

The proposed panels will be finalised to form a multidisciplinary analysis of the various themes connected to forced migration and asylum. The contents of the School will consider the topics associated with all the various phases of the migration process – departure, journey, reception and integration of asylum seekers.

The learning process aims to investigate the phenomenon of forced migration and enhance the approach and effectiveness of those who work, or who are willing to work, in the professional sector of receiving of migrants, as well as in social communication and in academic research related to this topic. Moreover, the working methodology, that includes opportunities to share experiences with relevant partners, aims to promote networking among the participants and create fruitful relations for people active in the field at an international and local level.

Beneficiaries

The ideal candidates for the Summer School are graduates with second class degrees, researchers, journalists, experts and social workers who work in the field of migration and communication. All panels will be in English.
